Created during my time at Lux Imaging, this piece was developed as a conceptual exploration, pushing beyond the traditional boundaries of brand and promotional design.
The work explores provocation, tone, and visual storytelling through a highly constructed digital composition built from hundreds of photographic elements. Designed to challenge expectations and spark conversation, it reflects a willingness to push into more experimental and expressive territory.
At the time, digital imaging was undergoing a significant transformation. High-end compositing and retouching had traditionally been the domain of expensive systems like the Quantel Paintbox, requiring large post-production facilities and substantial budgets.
As desktop computing and tools like Photoshop became more powerful, I began producing complex compositing work independently—leveraging emerging technology to reduce costs while expanding creative flexibility. This shift ultimately led to the founding of Lux Imaging.
“One Love” was created within this moment of transition—serving both as a creative exploration and a statement about what was now possible when technical limitations gave way to artistic capability.
The final composition was built from hundreds of photographs of a single model, carefully layered and refined to create a seamless, high-impact visual.
The process combined traditional art direction with emerging digital techniques, allowing for a level of control, experimentation, and detail that was previously difficult to achieve outside of large-scale production environments.
While not intended for wide distribution, the piece sparked discussion around both its visual approach and its provocative tone.
More importantly, it stands as an early example of a broader shift in the industry, where the power of digital tools began to move away from expensive infrastructure and toward the hands of artists and creative thinkers.
Today, it remains one of my favorite pieces—representing both a moment of creative exploration and a turning point in how high-end digital work could be conceived and produced.
